The Tale of Genji is an artbook by Yoshitaka Amano published in 1997, inspired by the celebrated 11th-century Japanese imperial court novel written by Murasaki Shikibu. Amano transposes this masterpiece of Japanese literature into his signature watercolor style, combining delicate lines and rich colors to evoke the refined atmosphere of the Heian period.
