Rampo is one of Yoshitaka Amano's earliest artbooks. The work pays tribute to Edogawa Ranpo (江戸川乱歩), the Japanese master of detective and fantastical fiction of the 20th century, whose pen name was itself a homage to Edgar Allan Poe. Amano illustrates the dark and mysterious atmosphere of Ranpo's stories in a style still developing but already deeply personal.
